BLACK LIVES MATTER

Black lives matter.  To me, this is not a political issue.  It’s a health and human rights issue.

I am committed to being anti-racist on a personal level and as a business.  Like many of us, I am still learning and navigating what this means and how to take action.  I’m committed to learning more and exercising my voice through voting.  I promise not to turn a blind eye to social inequity. As a business, Gut-Z Journey’s medical, health, fitness, and technical training are available to all people regardless of skin color, gender identity, religious affiliation, or political beliefs. I am exploring ways to reduce barriers to learning and to create scholarships for minority groups.

I know there are BIG issues on the line. I recognize that people need to feel safe walking in their own neighborhood and local parks before they can feel safe in the backcountry.  I firmly believe that one of the best paths to action is to stay focused on doing those things that I KNOW I can help with.  For me, that is creating resources that help people get healthier and out in nature.  Time in nature reduces stress, builds confidence, and improves health.  Finding ways to bring these resources to black and other underprivileged minority groups will be a focus for Gut-Z Journey in the months and years ahead.

If you have any thoughts or suggestions – I’m all ears.
