Welcome to the June 7 Day Wilderness First Responder Course. Thank you for registering! Below is general information on what to expect with your WFR course. You can expect a follow-up email with more details in Mid May.
LOCATION
UCSD Campus
WHAT TO EXPECT
The 7 Day WFR course is an intensive educational experience. Expect to be in class from 8am-5pm with additional homework assignments. The course will be held outdoors sun or shine. Due to the intensive nature of the course it is not recommended to participate in any extracurricular evening activities. Instead please plan to leave your evening schedule available for studying, and resting. It is paramount that students show up to course having fully prepared to engage in the curriculum each day. Students are strongly encouraged to take good care of themselves by staying hydrated and eating well throughout the day.
COURSE START/END
The course begins promptly at 8:00 am with an approximate end time of 5 pm every day (including the last day). However, our actual wrap-up time depends on a number of variables.
COURSE DEVOTION
100% attendance is required. Students are expected to participate in all practical skills sessions (see Functional Position Statement).
REQUIRED PRE-COURSE WORK
While most of your homework will be assigned during the course, there is a small amount of pre-course work to set us up for success on day one. Your pre-course work and assignments during class will be through an online platform (Moodle). You will receive a custom link and log in information as the course gets closer (mid may). This should provide a buffer around everyones finals schedule.
A digital textbook is available once you register on Moodle. Having ready access to a computer and internet is an important component to your success in this course.
